Wavelength - A Cognition Education Group Company

Meet our team

We have a great team of over 30 people working at Wavelength – including online developers, learning partners, graphic designers, editors, project managers – and of course our senior leadership team.

James Hodgson
Managing Director

Based in Sydney, James runs our team. He is an experienced senior manager with over 15 years’ multi-media publishing experience. Passionately customer focused, James is committed to understanding the client, stakeholder, and audience needs and priorities to establish effective training and learning solutions. James has managed the development of countless large-scale education programmes and directs an expert team that includes some of Australasia’s best learning consultants, instructional and interactive designers, e-learning developers, writers, editors, and graphic designers.

Nolen Smith

Nolen joined the team in 2018 and is one of the most recognised professionals within the L&D industry. Nolen was a management consultant with a “Big 4” consulting firm in the eStrategy and Knowledge team before joining a fledgling Inspire Group to help establish the eLearning development team. At Inspire, he led the development of some of Australia and New Zealand’s earliest corporate elearning programmes. In 2006 Nolen co-founded Flexible Learning Network (later rebranded to Kineo Pacific) which spun off both the world-renowned Mahara Open Source ePortfolio project and Totara Learning Solutions. After Kineo Pacific’s acquisition in 2013, he stayed on as Managing Director and led Kineo Pacific through rapid growth across New Zealand, Australia and Singapore to become the largest bespoke digital learning provider in Asia Pacific. Over the years, Nolen has worked with some of the region’s largest public and private organisations. Here at Wavelength, Nolen supports some of our strategic clients and is helping execute a growth strategy.
