Wavelength Scoops GOLD at the Learning Technologies Awards in London

The winners of the internationally recognised Learning Technologies Awards were revealed at its annual ceremony, held on 29th November 2017 at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel, in London, UK. It was a glittering evening, with over 800 in attendance to celebrate the innovations and achievements of the world’s best learning technologies.

It was an exciting night for Wavelength who were awarded gold in the category of ‘Best use of learning technologies to ensure compliance – international’ for their work with New Zealand’s largest fuel distributor, Z Energy. Wavelength were up against stiff competition, with the likes of PwC, Credit Suisse, and IKEA all nominated in their category. 

Wavelength worked with Z to create ZORM, Z’s Operational Risk Management system. ZORM offers an integrated view of Z’s HSSE (health, safety, security and the environment) operational risks and how they can be managed. Z are dedicated to making health and safety an organisational priority, a priority that is embedded in their culture. Since the introduction of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015, Z has introduced a blended health and safety learning programme that includes competency self-assessment worksheets, online e-learning modules, workshops, and short training sessions.

The win itself was a fantastic achievement, with the judges specifically complimenting the way in which Wavelength used point of view video, allowing learners to see the consequences of different choices. This feature has translated well with learners, with Z seeing completion rates of over 90%. James Hodgson, Vice President of Wavelength said: “We are absolutely thrilled with the result tonight. This project was a big deal, not only for us at Wavelength, but also for the team at Z, whom we couldn’t have done this without. To be recognised at an international scale really reflects the expertise we have in our team and the hard work put in. We’re excited to continue growing our presence in the international market.”

From the project outset in 2015, Wavelength worked closely with the Z team to deliver the materials in a series of sprints. All materials are now in use throughout the organisation, and as part of their philosophy of continous improvement, Wavelength are still proudly working with Z to update and improve the resources.
